Tomorrow is World Kidney Day, and now is the best time to donate to support kids fighting critical kidney illnesses and dreaming of getting a wish. Every day, 40 more kids are added to the Make-A-Wish^® waiting list and they urgently need YOU to help grant their wish.

We’re getting closer to our goal of taking 40 kids off the Make-A-Wish waiting list and we could meet our goal immediately. Your gift today will help grant wishes for kids like Roslyn, who chose to give back with her wish.

Roslyn loves baking, spending time with her siblings and the medical care team who saved her life. “The other day, Roslyn said, ‘Mom, it’s like we’ve known the doctors our whole lives, but it’s just been the last couple of years,’” reflected Roslyn’s mom, Tai.

At just 4 years old, Roslyn was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Roslyn’s mom Tai remembers how “they thought it was appendicitis, but it turned out she had a tumor in both kidneys.” Roslyn immediately started chemotherapy and radiation and underwent multiple surgeries, which led to the removal of her entire right kidney and part of her left kidney. She spent a lot of time in the hospital.

All the while, the hope of a wish kept her going, as did her incredibly dedicated care team — and generous supporters like you.

When asked to choose a wish, Roslyn said she wanted to bake cakes for her care team at the hospital. “Because they helped me!” said Roslyn. 

With the help of a local artisan baker, Roslyn cracked eggs, mixed cake batter, decorated carrot cake (Roslyn’s favorite), and a mint chocolate cake. “I’m going to give them to my doctors because they helped me when I had cancer,” said Roslyn. After the cakes were frosted and dusted with edible glitter, Roslyn surprised her doctors, nurses, social workers and child-life specialists with her cake creations.

“We’re absolutely grateful for this whole process. I’ve been extremely proud of my daughter and doing something selfless like that makes me even prouder. We’re grateful and blessed,” said Tai.
