Dear John,

It seems that three of my least favourite people in the world are busy destroying one of my least favourite political parties. Can we rejoice?! Maybe…but only a little bit.

Certainly, we can allow ourselves some small satisfaction as we watch the self-inflicted mayhem unfold in front of our eyes, but we shouldn’t ignore the important lessons this meltdown provides about the underlying weakness of our democratic system.
