Washington, D.C. – I began the week fighting for Main Street by joining my colleagues in passing the Protect Small Businesses from Excessive Paperwork Act to allow small business owners to focus on growth and job creation instead of unnecessary regulatory burdens.

Tuesday morning, I questioned witnesses at our Ways and Means Oversight Subcommittee Hearing over the Internal Revenue Service's utter waste of taxpayer dollars, outdated systems, and poor customer service. You can read more about it in my Work of the Week section, and check out my statement by clicking here or on the photo below.

After, I enjoyed meeting with leaders and students from Dallas College and Tarrant County College to chat about their experiences on campus and programs that serve thousands of North Texans annually.

I headed back to our office to speak with doctors from Dallas about a variety of reforms to improve access to quality, affordable care, including mobile lung cancer screenings in rural areas.

Later that day, I met with Cornell’s interim president Mike Kotlikoff and the new chair of the board of trustees, my fellow Texan, Anne Smalling. I continued to hold the university accountable by pressing its leaders on their efforts to combat antisemitism on campus.

Wednesday morning was a whirlwind, starting with our Ways and Means Committee markup session. While Republicans worked to advance legislation to help the American people, Democrats tried to hijack the session to complain about Elon Musk. You can check out more of our interactions by clicking here or on the photo below.

Republicans pushed back against the baseless accusations and advanced five strong bills that will modernize the IRS and combat fraud, saving taxpayers money and streamlining outdated IRS processes.

The men and women in the trucking industry play a critical role in keeping our economy and supply chains moving. After our markup, I headed to meet with the Texas Trucking Association to discuss solutions that will grow the workforce, ensure strong safety standards, and combat cargo theft.

As if saddling small businesses with trillions of dollars in new regulations wasn't enough, Joe Biden chose to add even more as he made his way out of Washington. I supported The Midnight Rules Relief Act to quickly address this problem by allowing for the overturning of multiple regulations with a single vote instead of one-by-one.

When Democrats chose to protect criminal illegal aliens over Americans, Governor Abbott stepped up with Operation Lone Star. I was glad to join him and my Texas congressional colleagues to discuss reimbursing our great state for covering the costs of securing our border.

I was excited to join my Republican Study Committee colleagues this week for the launch of our “Right To The Point” podcast! As Chair of the Budget and Spending Taskforce, I look forward to using this opportunity to cut through the noise and deliver important policy news straight to the American people.

Unfortunately, we’ve seen too many instances of our heroes getting killed trying to keep us safe by arresting criminal aliens. Thursday morning, I supported the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act to hold illegal aliens accountable for jeopardizing the safety of our law enforcement officers.

I will always stand with our brave officers who’ve been working tirelessly to secure our border and protect the American people.

Texas-24 Work of the Week

Democrats threw billions of dollars at the IRS promising to modernize the agency and target billionaires. As I raised at our Ways and Means Committee oversight hearing, Democrats used this money to harass working families and job creators while letting customer service decline.

Texas-24 Hometown Hero

This week's Texas-24 Hometown Hero is retired North Richland Hills Police Chief Mike Young, who spent the last 40 years protecting and serving our community.
