Congress is currently considering proposals that would cut or reduce Medicaid. This critical decision could impact the lives of millions of Americans living with severe mental illness (SMI), putting vital mental health services and care at risk and leading to devastating consequences for individuals and families already struggling to access the support they need.

Medicaid is a lifeline for millions of individuals who rely on it to access necessary mental health care. These cuts would lead to reduced access to treatment, housing support, and medication, making it even harder for those living with severe mental illness to lead stable, healthy lives. We cannot afford to let this happen.

We need you to take action now!

Contact your members of Congress today and tell them to stand with individuals living with SMI by protecting Medicaid coverage. Your voice can make a difference in the fight to preserve life-saving healthcare.

Here's how you can help:

  • Call your US Representatives and Senators – Share why Medicaid coverage for mental health care is essential for you or your family member(s). Tell them to protect Medicaid and oppose any efforts to cut or reduce coverage for those in need. Phone number to call: 202-224-3121.
  • Use our TAC template to email your representatives – Urge them to protect Medicaid and oppose cuts to funding. Add your personal reasons for opposing Medicaid funding cuts and how it would impact your life, a loved one’s life or your patient’s lives. (The stories of how real people are affected are the most impactful!)
  • Spread the word – Share this alert with your friends and family and ask them to join the fight.
