Igo
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I hope this update finds you well! I’m excited to share the latest news on my legislation and committee work this week. It’s been a productive time, and I’m grateful to update you on what we’ve been working on.
Meetings and Events
This week, I had the opportunity to meet with many constituents. One notable meeting was with a group of Sheriffs and the Hibbing Police Chief. It’s always great to see law enforcement officers here at the Capitol to discuss the challenges they face in their work. Public safety is a top priority for me, and I deeply value the relationships I’ve built with local officers.
A special thank you to Police Chief Steve Estey of Hibbing, and to the local sheriffs from Itasca, St. Louis, Koochiching, and Lake Counties. Your dedication to our communities and your time spent in St. Paul is truly appreciated.

Additionally, I had the pleasure of attending Duluth and St. Louis County Days, where I had the chance to try out Local 49’s excavator simulator. This simulator is part of their career and operating engineer’s pathway training program for high school students. It was a fun way to test my operating skills and learn more about the important work they do.

Committees
In the Housing Committee this week, we heard from the Minnesota Housing Agency, which provided an overview of both the agency and its budget. It’s clear that Minnesota faces significant housing challenges, and the traditional approach of increasing funding hasn’t addressed the root causes of the problem. Along with other committee members, I’m focused on crafting legislation that will tackle these underlying issues. I’ll keep you updated as we make progress.
In the Energy Committee, we reviewed Rep. Chris Swedzinski’s HF9 [ [link removed] ] this week. This bill aims to help us achieve our clean energy goals by providing affordable, reliable, and diverse energy sources. It also lifts the nuclear moratorium and addresses the rising cost of energy across the state. The bill passed through the Energy Committee and was referred to the Taxes Committee next. As a strong supporter of the bill, I’ll continue to update you on its progress through the House.
Happy Valentine's Day!
I hope you are able to spend time with your loved ones this weekend. I’m looking forward to spending time with my wife here in the district, and I hope you have the opportunity to do the same with those who matter most to you.
