This country faced devastation 7 years ago at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida where 17 students and staff members’ lives were stolen in a horrific mass shooting.
Just a few days later, I saw an armed police officer patrolling the drop-off line at my daughter's school. I was shocked, scared, and felt hopeless. My daughter on the other hand was oblivious, marching into the school building with her pink unicorn backpack. It became clear at that moment that I must take action.
I joined Moms Demand Action, ran for Congress, became a vocal advocate, and started Their Future PAC, the first and only PAC for kids. But now we face a new challenge with an administration that does not put kids first or care about gun violence prevention.
We need your support as we face off with the dangerous Trump administration to try and protect kids around the country. Can you take action today by donating anything you can to help us raise $10,000 before tonight at midnight?
As a pediatrician, I’ve seen the direct effects of gun violence on our children as it continues to be the leading cause of death for them. I believe we have a moral imperative to act and I am done waiting for our elected officials to do the right thing. The solutions are not extreme or controversial — they are common sense.
We cannot stand by as the current administration disregards gun violence prevention. We must stand up and fight to have a Kids First Agenda in Washington that will ensure the safety of our children and families.
Today I will continue to honor the lives stolen seven years ago at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School with my action.
Please join me in building a safer future for our children.
Until the kids are alright,
Annie Andrews
