Email from Tarrant County Republican Party Democrat Chris Turner is working to undo our Appraisal District's work PURCHASE MAGA GALA TICKETS Working with the DOGE Committee The Texas House has finally announced committee assignments, and there's a never-before-seen committee modeled after Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency. Luckily for us, the committee is stacked with Tarrant County and adjacent representatives. The Chairman is Rep. Capriglione from northeast Tarrant County. In addition, Rep. Tinderholt and Cook are on the committee, as well as Rep. Olcott from neighboring Parker County. We plan to work extensively with the committee to help save taxpayer dollars and increase government efficiency. We've already begun digging into government waste and will be releasing everything we find to the public in addition to working with the committee to help eliminate it. The committee has wide-ranging powers apart from passing legislation to the House floor. For example, the committee has the ability to compel state agency staff to testify in public hearings before the committee and to produce records. This is important because there are many suspicious government expenditures and contracts that are obscure and need to be investigated for waste. For example, our government spends money on subscriptions to the Texas Tribune with taxpayer dollars, just like the federal government did with Politico before DOGE exposed it. State agencies also spend over $2 million per year on "Plants" and $8 million on magazine subscriptions. We won't even mention the foreign travel or long-distance phone call charges! It's an easy case to be made that the committee could eliminate over $1 billion per year in government waste. But they'll have to act quickly before the State Budget passes the House. That's why we're here to help. Be on the lookout for more developments on this front! Standing Room Only! Seated tickets for the MAGA Gala are gone! Apart from standing-room tickets, the event is sold out. If you would like to attend the event of the year, the only option you've got left is our $150 standing-room tickets. Get them before even these are gone! There will be complimentary heavy hors d'oeuvres and an open bar available with the standing-room tickets. You can order your tickets HERE. This is your last chance! Turner Raising Your Taxes This week, the Republican Speaker of the House has conspired with Arlington Democrat Representative Chris Turner to raise your taxes. In an ironic move, Speaker Dustin Burrows appointed Rep Turner to chair a subcommittee on property taxes. His first action was to file a bill raising your taxes. The very same day Turner was put in charge of this committee, he filed HR 2786, which would require the Tarrant County Appraisal District to appraise your property every year. This runs entirely against the recent actions of our Appraisal District and the campaign promise of our new Tax Assessor-Collector Rick Barnes. While our Appraisal District has worked to move from annual appraisals to appraisals every two years - with the goal of appraisals every three years - Chris Turner and Dustin Burrows are working to return you to annual appraisals and raise your taxes. You can read the bill here. We strongly encourage you to call your representatives and tell them to vote NO on HB 2786. FWISD Is Closing Schools With the local elections gearing up, all eyes are on Fort Worth ISD. Right as filings close for the school board, they began discussing the closure of over 20 schools. This comes as the school district has been criticized for years for both its low student test scores and for rapidly-falling school enrollment. With local elections coming this May, the closure will surely feature in the FWISD campaigns, but it's only a symptom of the district's long-time failures. You can read more about it here. Keller ISD Sued by Leftist Activists As the Keller ISD debate over splitting the district ramps up, leftist activists have sued the school board. Brewer Storefront has sued Keller ISD over the potential split. The law firm is accusing the school district of violating the Voting Rights Act. This isn't the first time, either. Brewer Storefront has a long history of using alleged Voting Rights Act violations to drag conservative school boards into court. The situation is still developing. But we hate to see taxpayer dollars wasted in court over a lawsuit on behalf of leftist radicals by a liberal law firm. Share The Roundup with Friends!
