Notes from the Office of Speaker Mike Johnson Hello, friends! Thank you for subscribing to the Office of Speaker Johnson's newsletter highlighting what's happening on Capitol Hill and in Louisiana's 4th Congressional District. | On Thursday, the House passed H.R. 35, the Agent Raul Gonzalez Office Safety Act, which ensures illegal immigrants who endanger or evade American law enforcement officers will be held accountable. This bill was named in honor of Border Patrol Agent Raul Gonzalez, Jr., who tragically died in the line of duty while chasing down illegal aliens who were fleeing the scene of a crime. Speaker Johnson said, “This bill delivers a strong message: those who cross our borders illegally and jeopardize the safety of our officers will face severe criminal and immigration penalties. Republicans will continue to take decisive action and echo President Trump’s leadership to deliver what is necessary to protect the American people and secure our borders.” | In the final days of his term, former President Biden and unelected bureaucrats imposed harmful policies and burdensome regulations upon American businesses and families. That's why the House passed H.R. 77, the Midnight Rules Relief Act, which allows Congress to roll back these damaging policies. Speaker Johnson commended the passage of the bill, "House Republicans are working to reverse the destructive overreach from the last administration and this bill is part of our ongoing efforts to make the federal government more efficient, accountable, and responsive to the American people." | On Monday, at the House Republican leadership press conference, Speaker Johnson highlighted the Democrats’ newfound interest in the “rule of law.” For four years, Democrats celebrated while Biden trampled over the concept, implementing illegal policies, such as vaccine mandates. Speaker Johnson applauded President Trump's legitimate actions to root out waste, fraud, and abuse. Kennedy Jr. as the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and Brooke Rollins as the Secretary of Agriculture. President Trump has entrusted Tulsi, Bobby, and Brooke to be catalysts for much-needed change in Washington and each of these leaders are well-equipped to carry out the promises of President Trump’s America First mandate. | Speaker Johnson joined News Nation with Leland Vittert to discuss how House Republicans are advancing President Trump's agenda.
