Dear John,

Trump’s presidency has already been blatantly homophobic, transphobic, and racist, as seen by his executive orders attempting to terminate diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, calling for the end of birthright citizenship, and attempting to ban trans women and girls from school sports and end gender affirming care for trans young people. And now, under Trump’s leadership, the State Department is attacking the ability of transgender, nonbinary, and intersex people to obtain accurate passports that match their identity. This is just the latest attempt by Trump and his administration to erase trans people from public life.

We need you to act now. Submit comments on the State Department’s proposed changes to passport application forms and flood the administration with opposition.
Tell the State Department: Stop the Erasure of Trans People [[link removed]]
We must reject these federal attacks on the trans, intersex, and nonbinary community.
TAKE ACTION [[link removed]]

The administration is using every policy lever it can find to drive hatred toward trans people. Forcing people to be marked with a gender identity that doesn’t accurately represent them is not only inhumane, but it also creates a logistical nightmare for transgender, nonbinary, and intersex individuals applying for passports and sharply increases the risk of harassment and discrimination, travel difficulties, and identity document mismatches.

Trans people deserve to travel freely and safely—and to thrive just like anyone else. Tell the State Department that we all need and deserve passports that reflect our true identities, and they must not ban people from getting passports that match who they are. [[link removed]]

In solidarity,
