Last night, our endorsed climate champion David Gottfried defeated an attempted Republican power grab in Minnesota — delivering a must-win special election that broke the GOP majority in the state House. That means Trump’s allies won’t be able to steamroll their pro-polluter agenda through the state.

This is what it looks like to build a firewall of pro-climate power to stop Big Oil, John. This is how we resist. And this is our third special election victory so far this year.

✅ First, we helped Kannan Srinivasan win in Virginia, keeping the state Senate in Democratic hands and stopping Republican efforts to gut clean energy laws.

✅ Then, we helped Doron Clark win a critical seat in Minnesota, restoring the state Senate’s pro-climate majority.

✅ Now, we’ve won again in the state House — protecting Minnesota’s climate progress and the state from Republicans’ efforts to roll back progress on climate, reproductive rights and so much more.

Over 100,000 down-ballot seats around the country are on the line this year. Some of the most critical state legislatures are controlled by a single vote, meaning a race as small as last night’s can literally decide the balance of power.

Trump is working around the clock to stack his administration with MAGA loyalists, Big Oil cronies, and right-wing extremists to do everything in his power to undo every ounce of climate progress. We need to work twice as hard to stop him.
