Fellow activist,

As the federal government works to pass a federal budget this week, one thing is for sure, it is showing us where their priorities lie. The proposed budget does nothing to stop the chaos and havoc that is being wreaked on our nation, and instead focuses on increasing defense spending while slashing critical services that millions of American families rely on - Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. Programs like SNAP that provide healthcare, food, and basic needs to working families are directly in the crosshairs.

Instead of investing in education, healthcare, or infrastructure, President Trump’s plan prioritizes raids in schools, churches, and hospitals, tearing families apart while leaving American communities struggling.

It bears the question: Who are our representatives answering to? From this vantage point, it appears the answer is billionaires and trillionaires, not the hardworking people of our nation.

More than 70 million people in the U.S. depend on social security benefits, including retirees and people with disabilities. In Pennsylvania alone, 2 million adults rely on Medicaid, around 2.8 million Pennsylvanians depend on Medicare for their healthcare, and around 2.9 million Pennsylvanians rely on Social Security for financial stability. Despite these programs being wildly popular, President Trump and Elon Musk continue to peddle conspiracy theories and fabricated information surrounding the programs to justify their proposed cuts. If they follow through, the elimination of staff within the Social Security Administration could result in a “system collapse and an interruption of benefits” within the next 30 to 90 days, according to former Social Security Commissioner Martin O’Malley (Newsweek).

We need to stay alert: This week, at Trump’s urging, the Department of Education fired nearly half of its staff. This is just another example of how the administration is trying to sow doubt in many of the systems that our communities rely on in order to give massive tax handouts to the mega-wealthy. Meanwhile, the GOP-led Congress has shown that they are unwilling to hold them accountable. Next on the chopping block: The Department of Social Security.

We need to prepare for anything that comes our way. In order to fight back, we must protect the independence of our courts in Pennsylvania. Help us prepare for elections happening this year by donating $25 immediately → ([link removed]
