Y'all, we’re so proud –
Last night, hundreds of Democratic lawmakers and everyday Texans pulled an all-nighter to protest school vouchers.
Over 700 Texans registered to speak at yesterday’s hearing on House Bill 3, a proposal to defund public schools and give wealthy families a taxpayer-funded discount on private school tuition.
The hearing lasted almost 24 hours.
We heard vital testimony from parents, teachers, and community members — many of whom traveled from the far corners of our state to share their story.
And yet, Texas Republicans are continuing to deny the undeniable: Texans firmly stand in opposition to private school vouchers.
With Trump firing over half of the Department of Education overnight – over 1,300 people – it is beyond clear that the battle for our public schools is entering a difficult new chapter.
And Y'all, we’re doing everything we can to protect public school funding and stop the voucher scam. But we need your help.
Stopping the Texas Republican school voucher scam will take all of us.
Do you have $10 to spare today to help fuel our fight for public education? [[link removed]]
Right now, we’re hosting phonebanks left and right to inform Texans about the current threats to our public schools and how they can make a difference. Your $10 donation would allow us to engage even more Texans in the fight to protect our public schools. [[link removed]]
As the battle for public education ramps up in Austin and D.C., rest assured that we will ALWAYS work to stop the privatization of our schools. Because no matter where they live or how much their family makes, EVERY child deserves a quality education.
We are so grateful to have you in this fight with us, friend. We’ll keep you posted as more news develops.
In the fight,
Texas Democratic Party
P.S. Unable to donate today? You can still make a difference! Sign up for our phonebank on Wednesday, March 19th, to help us inform Texans far and wide about the threats to our public schools. [[link removed]]
