Mexico beer production shutdown causes demand to shift across the border

Mexico shut down their beer production back in April with the government deeming it ‘non-essential.’ Now that Mexico is running out of booze, beer distributors near the border in the U.S. are seeing increased demand. Adrian Leal, general manager at the beer distribution company, Glazer’s Beer & Beverage, said, “What people started doing is pantry loading, they want to reduce the amount of times they go to the grocery store so they started buying larger quantities to keep at home obviously you’re going to have less trips to the grocery store but you’re going to be buying more.”
