Email from ENA 12 members of the House Progressive Caucus voted to sanction the ICC. We won’t let this stand… John, Congress voted to sanction the International Criminal Court (ICC) last month for no other reason than doing its job. This is because most of Congress wants to enable genocide in Gaza and elsewhere. A bit of background: the ICC was created decades ago to prosecute human rights abusers who commit crimes like genocide. The overwhelming majority of countries on Earth recognize the ICC and its jurisdiction to prosecute evil people who engage in war crimes and crimes against humanity. The US does not recognize the ICC’s authority. The ICC has prosecuted dozens of alleged criminals from across the globe without controversy. But everything changed last year when the court announced charges against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. (Spoiler alert: they’re both guilty!) Suddenly, the American political establishment lashed out at the world’s main human rights court. Republicans and pro-genocide Democrats in Congress introduced legislation to sanction the ICC just for doing its job prosecuting war criminals. And now, 45 Democrats have voted with Republicans to hinder any accountability for Netanyahu’s genocide which has killed tens of thousands – possibly even hundreds of thousands – of people in Gaza. And we hate to tell you this, but it gets even worse: 12 members of the House Progressive Caucus, the group of Democrats that’s supposed to be the most progressive and the most pro-human rights, joined Republicans in voting to sanction the ICC. It’s pathetic, immoral and completely unacceptable. These so-called “progressive” Democrats who enable genocide deserve to be named and shamed, so here are the 12 “progressives” who voted to sanction the ICC: Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ) Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL) Dan Goldman (D-NY) Steven Horsford (D-NV) Mike Levin (D-CA) Grace Meng (D-NY) Donald Norcross (D-NJ) Frank Pallone (D-NJ) Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) Darren Soto (D-FL) Shri Thanedar (D-MI) Juan Vargas (D-CA) These twelve people either need to immediately develop a moral compass or leave Congress. Our mission is to make them do just that. We can do this the easy way (let these dozen Members of Congress grow a spine, realize they’re in the wrong, and do the right thing) or the hard way (voting them out). What do these representatives have in common besides enabling genocide? They’re all up for re-election next year. We want to exert enough political power to elect a new slate of real progressives but we can’t do it alone. Can you donate $20 or whatever you’re able to spare to help us elect real progressives who will stand up to Benjamin Netanyahu and his oppression of Palestinians? The 2026 midterm elections are coming up faster than we can imagine and we want to send a resounding message to the blindly pro-Israel wing of the Democratic Party that their complicity in genocide is a dealbreaker for voters. With your help we can do exactly that! Let’s elect people who stand up for what’s right instead of lining their bank accounts with AIPAC cash.
