Friends, we’re in another critical election year. 

After a hard-fought 2024 and the chaotic initial weeks of Trump’s lawless second term, I know that may sound exhausting. 

But the 2025 elections in Virginia represent the country’s first major chance to stand up to the Trump Administration and send a national message of condemnation of Trump’s failures. 

This November, Virginia will hold elections for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, and the House of Delegates — our first electoral opportunity to show that Democrats are still fired up and ready to fight for our values.

Virginia is a unique place, politically. We may have gone blue in the past few presidential elections, but right now, Republicans control all three statewide offices. Our statewide elections historically have proven that we are a true battleground, and right now, it’s critical that Democrats don’t cede an inch. 

I love Virginia — I’ve called it home for more than four decades. Anne and I settled our family and raised three great kids here, and I’ve been proud to serve the people of this Commonwealth throughout my entire adult life. 

That’s why this year — right now — I am committing to you that I will help lead the fight to flip Virginia blue and support our great VA Democrats who are running in 2025.

Today, I’m asking you to do the same, and commit to joining me in this fight.

Virginia’s statewide elections always fall one year after presidential elections — and since 1980, we have elected a Governor of the opposite party from the new president almost every time. 

This year, it’s more important than ever before that we make sure that happens again — to send a message that Virginia will stand up for the American people and protect our democracy.
