John,

Jeanne Shaheen - a true New Hampshire hero - announced her retirement from the Senate today. She made history as the first woman to serve as Governor of New Hampshire and the first woman in America to serve as both a Governor and a United States Senator. But she hasn't just held those jobs - she's done those jobs brilliantly.

Her superpower is her ability to listen - truly listen - to the people of New Hampshire, understand their needs, and deliver for them.

She digs in and does the hard work - including the work of building bipartisan coalitions to solve our toughest problems. And she's got an incredible record of results to show for it, from supporting workers and small businesses to making healthcare and childcare more affordable, to meeting our sacred obligation to our veterans, to standing up to dictators and despots.

In every corner of our state, I see her legacy living and breathing in the people and the communities she's helped over five decades of service to our state and our nation.

Like so many others, I'm deeply grateful I've had the chance to learn from her and to follow the example she's set for us all. And I look forward to working with her over the next two years in Congress to keep delivering for the people of New Hampshire.

-Maggie
