The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has worked for decades to clean up our waterways and ensure every American has access to clean water by building up enforcement mechanisms to reduce the amount of raw sewage poured into our rivers, lakes, and oceans.
But with the stroke of a pen, most of the far-right judges on the Supreme Court took that away. Even with his most recent handpicked justice, Amy Coney Barrett, joining the dissent, we see how powerful Trump’s influence is on the Supreme Court.
Trump could appoint multiple new justices to the Court during his second term, which would make his negative impact even more profound and long-lasting. The Supreme Court needs reform to ensure it is composed of judges who respect the Constitution, not Trump’s personal wishes and the far-right agenda.
