John,
Last month, I did something I don’t normally do: a “stitch” on TikTok replying to someone expressing despair about Trump’s attacks on the foundations of our democracy.
I am a proud digitally-challenged Millennial, and not especially skilled at social media influencing or content creation. When I jumped into this conversation, it felt unnatural and a little awkward. (Did I mention that I’m a Millennial?)
But to be honest, I am just upset. I’m frustrated, scared, and feeling deeply uncertain about basic things that until recently we could take for granted like the ability to control my own body, to make my own choice about starting a family (or not), children having protection from preventable and devastating diseases like measles and polio, and being free to protest and disagree politically without the threat of violence or retribution…to name just a few.
So when I started sharing my thoughts on TikTok, I was very much out of my comfort zone — yet because the message was simple and sincere, it touched a nerve.
