BREAKING NEWS: President Trump just started firing more than 1,300 workers
at the Department of Education. On top of nearly 600 who already took
packages to leave, this will cut the department’s staffing nearly in half.
The New York Times reports the firings are "effectively gutting the agency
that manages federal loans for college, tracks student achievement, and
enforces civil rights laws in schools….Mr. Trump has said he wants to rely
on states and local school districts to fully oversee America’s education
   system."
Who gets elected to local school boards just got even more critical, and
so did the PCCC's Save Our School Boards program.
Save Our School Boards candidates have fended off Moms for Liberty
challengers, defeated entrenched incumbents, and flipped purple seats.
After hard-fought victories last cycle, Save Our School Boards candidates
now represent over 1,863,000 students across 40 different school
   districts.
Can you make a monthly donation to expand the PCCC’s Save Our School
Boards program to help elect many more pro-public education school board
members in critical races across the country?

Local school boards cannot take the place of a functioning Department of
   Education.
But with the right people on them, school boards can put in place policies
that protect students and teachers, protect learning, and blunt the impact
of Trump's attacks on public education.
School boards across the country have blocked right-wing extremists
book-banning attempts. The Philadelphia School Board has repeatedly
protected the rights of trans students. The Richmond School Board has
created a response plan for ICE raids -- to protect students from raids on
school property, and to provide rapid response if their parents are
   detained.
With the wrong people on them, school boards can abandon the welfare of
students, focusing instead on book bans, attacking LGBTQ+ communities,
forcing religious instruction, and mandating the teaching of inaccurate
   and incomplete history lessons.
In the last election cycle, our Save Our School Boards program supported
over 100 school board members in 29 states. With Trump eviscerating the
Department of Education, we are working to support many more
pro-public-education candidates this year and next.
With your help, Save Our School Boards provides candidates with the
resources to build out a winning campaign and get connected to a vast
support network. This cycle we will also arm school board candidates with
rapid-response materials to help them fight back against the Trump
   Administration’s authoritarian overreach.
There is not a moment to lose. Can you chip in to help expand our Save Our
School Boards program to serve many more candidates this year and next?
Together, lets commit to protecting the education and rights of tens of
   thousands more children?
[ [link removed] ]Yes! I'll donate monthly to Save Our School Boards.
[ [link removed] ]No, but I'll donate once right now.
Thanks for being in this fight.
