His catchphrase on The Apprentice may have been “You’re fired,” but as
President of the United States, Donald Trump cannot fire whoever he wants.
That’s why I’ve filed yet another lawsuit against the Trump administration
for conducting a careless and unlawful mass firing of probationary federal
workers.
The abrupt termination of probationary employees across government
agencies en masse exceeds the administration’s authority. If allowed, it
will also cause chaos for workers and their families, and will lead to
increased operation disruptions, higher rehiring costs, and long-term
financial burdens on taxpayers.
Federal employees contribute to our economy and provide critical services
that affect the everyday lives of Californians, from offering support for
veterans and farmers to protecting our cherished national parks and public
lands. They don’t deserve this kind of reckless treatment, and it will
only serve to hurt our economy instead of help it.
My lawsuit with fellow Democratic attorneys general seeks to reinstate all
unlawfully terminated federal employees and halt further illegal firings.
