Obviously, the 2024 election didn’t go the way we had hoped for at the presidential level. We’re dealing with the consequences of that every day as the Trump administration pushes through its chaotic and cruel agenda.
But from Congress to state legislatures across the country, young progressive candidates won important races to make good on the issues that matter most to their constituents — from tackling the climate crisis to working toward a future free of gun violence.
In fact, Leaders We Deserve played an important role in helping to elect six new progressive champions last November: Sarah McBride, Molly Cook, Bryce Berry, Dante Pittman, Christine Cockley, and Oscar De Los Santos.
This didn’t come out of nowhere. Since 2023, Leaders We Deserve has been at the forefront of investing in young leaders — cultivating a bench of young progressives who will fight for their communities and help to defeat the far-right’s agenda.
We don’t plan on slowing down either. With Donald Trump back in office, it’s clear that young progressives will be the antidote we need to counter the MAGA GOP.
