New Study: Two-Parent Families Key to Social Mobility
A new study ([link removed]) led by Harvard researcher Paul E. Peterson reaffirms what TakeCharge has long argued—strong families are the foundation of success, especially for black Americans. The research finds that:
“The prevalence of two-parent families in communities predicts their average level of student achievement and social mobility rates for those from disadvantaged backgrounds—even after adjusting for income, education, ethnic composition, racial segregation, and other community factors.”
This research is yet another data point that reveals the obvious and validates what Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan referenced 60-years ago. The question is why have progressive legislatures and leaders ignored the research and keep pushing woke propaganda that divides the country and leaves the black community in generational poverty?
With nearly 80% of black children now born into fatherless homes, the long-term consequences cannot be ignored. While schools play a critical role in student success, the study notes that “schools win the silver medal in the social mobility competition,” but family structure has the largest impact on a child’s future.
We are committed to reversing these trends by promoting faith, family, and free enterprise as the pillars of prosperity. The research underscores the urgency of our mission: strengthening families is not just a cultural issue—it is an economic necessity.

Kendall Qualls Featured in the Washington Examiner
TakeCharge President Kendall Qualls was featured in the Washington Examiner with a powerful op-ed addressing the urgent need to restore the black family and reject the false narrative of victimhood. Kendall highlights how decades of failed government policies have incentivized fatherless homes, leading to devastating consequences for black communities.
The real path to prosperity isn’t through government dependency or identity politics—it’s through faith, family, and free enterprise. Kendall’s op-ed reinforces TakeCharge’s mission to empower individuals by reclaiming the values that once made black families some of the strongest in America.
