Emily is a typical 3-year-old, she’s full of life and loves to spend time outdoors playing with her sisters and two dogs, but her start in life wasn’t easy.
At wish mom Heather’s 5-month ultrasound, doctors discovered that her unborn baby Emily’s heart was beating far too fast.
Heather was referred to a specialist the next day, expecting another short appointment during her pregnancy. To her surprise, this turned into a 10-day hospital stay, involving specialists, medications and the ICU.
It changed their family’s lives forever. “The next 11 weeks were filled with so many appointments, electrocardiograms, fetal echocardiograms and medication changes,” Heather said. Ultimately, it was determined that early delivery would give Emily her best chance for survival. |
