John –
Last week, House Republicans released their budget blueprint. It tasks the Agriculture Committee with finding nearly a quarter trillion in cuts.
This means we're staring down severe cuts to the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), which tens of millions of working-class Americans rely on to put food on their tables. It means that healthcare for working-class and rural communities — the folks I represented in Congress — is on the chopping block.
This budget would be an utter disaster for the Midwest, and the Congressional Republicans from this region have a duty to speak up for their constituents. But if the last few weeks are any indication, silence is probably the most we can expect.
We're committed to stopping this cruel and harmful budget, and to do that, we need the resources to amplify our message and show Midwestern Republicans that voters want real leadership. Will you chip in today to Midwest Majority PAC?
It's an old, tired story: Republicans want to pass a massive tax cut for billionaires, so they pay for it by cutting services and aid for those who need it. The budget outline they put out this week is nothing different.
For all the GOP's talk in recent years of reinventing itself to better represent everyday Americans, they're quickly showing that their priorities never changed. This is a moment for us to expose their hypocrisy, and clearly define Democrats as the true champions of the working class.
We need to show that we're going to fight tooth and nail against budget proposals like this. And it starts with targeting Republicans in competitive districts – because our voices do matter, and we do have leverage.
I'm proud to stand with Midwest Majority PAC to do my small part. Will you join us by chipping in today?
Onward,
