Dear Friend,
New Zealand First DEFENDS our country’s name in Parliament.
Green MP Ricardo Menendez March referred to our nation as AOTEAROA in Parliament - with Green and Labour MP’s in support.
The Rt Hon Winston Peters stood up and questioned -
"Why is someone who applied to come to this country in 2006 allowed to ask a question of this Parliament to change this country's name without the referendum and sanction of the New Zealand people?"
New Zealand First made a commitment in our coalition agreement that the official name of our country is NEW ZEALAND, unless the people decided otherwise by referendum.
Both Winston and Shane upheld that commitment by educating Parliament on the origins of the word Aotearoa and the transliteration of New Zealand in the Treaty of Waitangi - Niu Tireni.

Friend, afterward, speaking to media Winston says:
"Let me tell you right now, the New Zealand people, the mass majority, believe this country's name is New Zealand.
And we're not going to change it unless they say so.
It's not what you think , it's not what a bunch of bureaucrats think, or what a bunch of radicals think.
Do you agree with Winston? We need your support. Share our message on social media <[link removed]> so more and more kiwis can hear what we are doing inside and outside of Parliament.
