It’s no secret that Israeli culture over the past several decades has bred a vile resentment and hatred of Palestinians and that this ugly sentiment among many Israelis has directly led to atrocities like apartheid and oppression in Palestine. But now, Israelis are exporting that violence directly to the United States.

This past weekend, a pro-Israel American man opened fire with a semiautomatic handgun, shooting a father and son who he thought were Palestinian. When he was arrested, he gleefully told police that he had shot two Palestinians. Then, he smiled in his mugshot. Pure evil!

But here’s the catch: the father and son he shot at seventeen times were actually Israeli! This is how deep the pro-apartheid brain rot goes. Then, in the hospital, the Israeli father and son posted on social media that they had been shot by a Palestinian.

This situation is as ridiculous as it is tragic—and it reveals just how corrupting anti-Palestinian hatred can be. With Donald Trump as president, we’ve already seen the normalization of anti-Palestinian rhetoric. We can’t allow that to extend to the normalization of anti-Palestinian violence.

But dozens of supposedly progressive members of Congress are normalizing anti-Palestinianism by sending billions of dollars to fund Israel’s right-wing apartheid regime that has killed upwards of 47,000 Palestinians in just 18 months.

We’re ready to fund primary challenges against “progressives” who use their positions to normalize anti-Palestinian violence, but we can’t do it alone. We need contributions from grassroots donors like you to clean up the Progressive Caucus. Can you donate $5, $15, or even $50 to help us make the Congressional Progressive Caucus truly representative of progressive values?

Atrocities begin with words and hate. Even though violence in Miami didn’t actually target Palestinians, it is totally abhorrent that a pro-Israel American could gleefully shoot at people hw thought were Palestinian. We need to stop this violence together and that starts by preventing people in power from normalizing it.
