Team,
It’s an honor to meet you. I’m State Sen. Ram Villivalam, and I’m also a 2025 IDCCA Party Builder Award Honoree.
Here’s a bit about me: I was raised on the northwest side of Chicago as the son of Indian Immigrants. Though my father and mother were a civil engineer and a teacher in India respectively, they had to work minimum wage jobs in the United States, go back to school, and work hard to provide for their family.
I was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 2018, but before that election, I worked at SEIU Healthcare. I fought on behalf of home care for seniors and people with disabilities, child care for working families, and Medicaid for those in need.
I am incredibly proud to be the first Asian American and Indian American elected to the Illinois State Senate. I am also very proud to have sponsored and fought for the passage of the Worker's Rights Amendment.
I believe that building a winning party means building a party that is responsive to people’s needs – and you can hear more about that if you join us on February 24th for the IDCCA Party Builder Awards. You can RSVP here to secure your spot to join us. [[link removed]]
