Dear Friend,

[ [link removed] ]Oh. My. We have an update, and it’s not a good one: Last week the
far-right House Republicans' plans became crystal clear when they released
their budget resolution: They are trying to pass a law that will give
massive ($4.5 TRILLION) tax breaks to billionaires and to
mega-corporations, while forcing everyone else (like me and you) to pay
the price. [1]

We need to speak out now and we need to speak out loud!!

[ [link removed] ]***SIGN our letter calling on Republican leadership, along with every
member of the U.S. Congress, to prioritize families over billionaires—no
tax cuts for billionaires and corporations paid for by cuts to our health
care, nutrition, education, and childcare. (If we already have your
information, you will be automatically signed on to our letter to Congress
when you click here.)

Here’s what’s going on: Last week, the Republican-led House Budget
Committee released a budget proposal that will give $4.5 trillion in tax
cuts to the super rich (think Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg) and
mega-corporations, paying for them by making massive cuts to Medicaid and
raising taxes on the tens of millions of Americans who get their health
care from the Affordable Care Act. In addition, they plan to slash funding
for food stamps (SNAP), K-12 education, and other vital programs that help
families, small businesses, and our economy in order to fund these tax
cuts. [2]

This is outrageous! Instead of lowering costs for families, Republicans in
Congress want to hand out even more tax breaks to billionaires and wealthy
corporations—and pay for it by taking away the services families and small
businesses rely on. It doesn’t have to be this way. Our elected leaders
should be making the wealthy and corporations pay their fair share in
taxes in order to fund priorities that allow parents to go to work, kids
to thrive, and people to contribute to their communities like the expanded
Child Tax Credit, investments in child care and education, Medicaid and
care for the aging and people with disabilities, and paid family and
medical leave. The upside down priorities of the Republicans are not only
harmful to families but also our economy. [ [link removed] ]

Taking away health care and raising the cost of groceries will hurt moms,
people of color, women, and families the most. For example, six in ten
non-elderly people served by Medicaid are people of color and 57% are
women; Medicaid covers 40% of births. These program cuts, layered with an
unnecessary tariff war, will lead to higher costs for families who are
already struggling to get by, while the super-wealthy and corporations
that are seeing record profits get a windfall in tax cuts. That’s why a
majority of the public—across party lines—rejects new tax giveaways for
billionaires and big corporations. [ [link removed] ]

[3]***This is why we need you to speak out and sign our letter against the
Republican tax plan now! (If we already have your information, you will be
automatically signed on to our letter to Congress when you click here.)

The [4]letter we are sending members of Congress states the following:

“Dear Member of Congress,

We reject any attempts to pass a law that gives massive tax breaks to
billionaires and wealthy corporations while cutting our health care,
nutrition, and education to pay for them.

House Republicans want to give the top 0.1% as much as a $280,000 a year
tax cut, and allow large corporations to pay extremely low taxes, with
many paying almost nothing. All at the same time as slashing funding for
Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act, nutrition assistance (including
SNAP), and K-12 education and child care. This does nothing to lower costs
for families or help our struggling economy.

Instead, our leaders should make sure the wealthy and corporations pay
their fair share in taxes in order to make investments that all of us
benefit from like a permanent Child Tax Credit, child care, health care,
nutrition assistance, care for the aging and people with disabilities, and
paid family and medical leave.

Please choose families over billionaires!”

Our message is clear—instead of spending more money on tax cuts for
billionaires and wealthy corporations, the President and Congress should
focus on keeping their promises to voters: Lower costs for everyday
people, invest in workers and families, and make the tax code, small
businesses, and the economy work better for all of us!

[ [link removed] ]SIGN OUR LETTER NOW to speak out and tell Congress to prioritize
families over billionaires! (If we already have your information, you will
be automatically signed on to our letter to Congress when you click here.)

The fight ahead of us is a major one! The Republicans are in control of
both chambers of Congress and the White House. But we know we can break
through to them and force them to change their plan if we all speak out
and let them know that people in every congressional district across the
country are sickened and angered by their misplaced priorities. [ [link removed] ]Sign

Thank you,

P.S. Groceries, health care, child care, and gas costs are already
incredibly high! Layer on top of that the above Republican-led cuts to
programs and Donald Trump’s tariffs and we know costs for families will
skyrocket. [ [link removed] ]How would these increased costs impact you and your family?
