Welcome to another edition of FT Now! Two Democrat governors were caught
red-handed this week for failing to abide by their own COVID-19 lockdown
rules, joining their colleagues in Virginia and Illinois. While elected
officials have spent months asking their constituents to make sacrifices
to "slow the spread," apparently these two governors couldn't handle
the pressure themselves. Now, for some positive news: Oklahoma Gov.
Kevin Stitt has taken yet another big step for teachers in his state.

Lockdown Rules Don't Apply to Liberal Governor Gretchen Whitmer
What Happened:
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's husband got caught trying to skirt
his wife's lockdown orders - and get special treatment in the process.
It didn't work.
Why You Should Care:
It's not ok when elected officials - people in power - think the rules
shouldn't apply to them. To make matters worse, when the governor was
confronted with the incident, she tried to pass it off as an online
"rumor". Did she really think Michiganders were going to fall for that?
What Happens Next:
It's clear the governor doesn't think the rules she forces on her
constituents should apply to her. The people of Michigan deserve better.

For Liberal Lujan Grisham, Diamonds Are A Governor's Best Friend
What Happened:
Apparently, New Mexico Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham violated her
own stay-at-home order to stock up on high-end jewelry.
Why You Should Care:
Just days after the governor ordered the shutdown of non-essential
business, she had a jewelry store employee open up shop so she could
make a purchase. Apparently, she's fine asking the people of New
Mexico to sacrifice during the COVID-19 crisis, but she can't wait a
few weeks to buy some new jewelry.
What Happens Next:
Hopefully, the people of New Mexico get the answers they deserve.

Governor Kevin Stitt's Licensing Reforms Make Oklahoma A Top
Destination For America's Teachers
What Happened:
Fulfilling an earlier promise, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt has signed
legislation requiring the state Board of Education to recognize
out-of-state certificates for teachers. The move will allow teachers
with valid licenses from other states to find work in the Sooner State.
Why You Should Care:
Attracting the country's top teaching talent has been a major priority
for Governor Stitt during his tenure so far, which will undoubtedly
yield enormous benefits for Oklahoma families.
What Happens Next:
This is just the latest in a series of steps Gov. Stitt has taken to
improve the lives of teachers in Oklahoma. Expect more good things to
come!
