HIGHLIGHT PIECE OF THE WEEK |
Decades of Assisted Suicide Expansion Shows How Canada's Slippery Slope was Actually a Cliff |
"When it was introduced, proponents claimed [assisted suicide] would only account for a small number of deaths. In 2023, almost one death out of 20 in Canada was due to [assisted suicide]. In Quebec, which has adopted the practice more enthusiastically than virtually any other human society, the figure is 7.3%, the highest such figure anywhere in the world. Last year, Quebec unilaterally legalized [assisted suicide] by advance directive — which under the Criminal Code is murder. The federal government’s reaction was to hold a series of national roundtables to discuss the idea more."

It’s Women Who Will Pay the Price for Assisted Suicide |
"While politicians assert that this Bill won’t extend assisted dying beyond those with a terminal illness and six months to live, its hazy wording could lead to misuse. Plus, every country that has legalised assisted death has rapidly expanded its remit; the Netherlands, for example, now allows children to access it, and people with borderline personality disorder, a condition diagnosed at three times the rate in women." |

Be A Signatory On A Letter To CBS Decrying Their Bias Coverage of Assisted Suicide |
Recently, CBS News aired a two-part segment on PAS. The first part focused entirely on a pro-assisted suicide perspective. We expected the second segment to present a balanced view, but unfortunately, only a fraction of the promised opposing perspective was aired. We are calling on CBS to explain their editorial decisions and provide truly balanced reporting on this issue. We urge you to stand with us by signing on to support this letter. Together, we can demand accountability and ensure that all voices are heard.

Voices That Oppose the Assisted Suicide Are Vital Scrutiny
|
"The kindest reading is that the bill’s proponents feel so passionate about the rights of those whom it is designed to assist that they may have minimised its risks in their own heads. This would explain their flat-out denials that their bill is unsafe, and their failure to engage with genuine attempts to try to improve it by those who might oppose it but would rather its risks were reduced if it does become law." |
