Making the most of our right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
E&E News (2/19/25) reports: "A conservative think tank is asking the Trump administration to roll back three major water quality rules that it says are stifling energy projects. Filed by the Institute for Energy Research, the first petition seeks changes to the Biden administration’s definition of 'waters of the U.S.' under the Clean Water Act. The definition sets the standard for the types of wetlands and surface waters nationwide that are protected by the landmark environmental law. The second petition asks EPA to rein in states’ ability to block energy projects like pipelines that could harm water quality within their borders. The third asks for reconsideration of a sweeping EPA rule requiring states to account for tribes' fishing and hunting rights when setting water pollution standards."

"Ultimately, seeking the best financial returns should be the only guiding light for how state funds are managed. Normally such a declaration would be sufficient. But the bait and switch game played by ESG advocates over the past decade, and the clear history of misleading investors about the financial returns of ESG-investing, have pushed state legislators deeper into the weeds of how their assets are managed."
