Dear Community,

Across our nation, vulnerable communities—and the nonprofit organizations committed to protecting them—are seeing decades of hard-won advances turned back, in what feels like a heartbeat. Right here in New York City, we too are preparing for alarming changes.

I want to assure you, The NYC LGBT Community Center is steadfast in its commitment to serving LGBTQ+ New Yorkers. We are working, just as we have throughout our storied history, to come together, stand tall, and fight back.

But we must be clear-eyed and transparent: the threat to our public funding is very real. Our federal contracts include nearly $2 million that directly supports our HIV/AIDS services, our essential case management work, and our mental health and substance use recovery programs. These programs, which thousands of LGBTQ+ people utilize annually, are appallingly and immediately at risk.

This moment is filled with worrisome uncertainty, but it’s also a powerful moment of galvanizing clarity. The Center is here to stay. Our services will continue, and we are exploring every avenue to strengthen our funding sources. But we need your help.
