Fellow activist,
This is urgent: A bill aimed at restricting voter access has been introduced in the PA House. HB 284, introduced by Republican Representative David Maloney (Berks), would establish new proof of citizenship requirements for Pennsylvanians registering to vote.
Here’s the truth: It is already illegal for a non-US citizen to vote nationally and in PA. Similar to the SAVE Act introduced in Congress, this bill is being introduced to peddle unfounded conspiracies and to sow doubt in our election systems. Additionally, it works to uplift extremist MAGA talking points to make it more difficult for eligible Americans to make their voices heard.
As a voting rights organization, we are vehemently against making it harder to register to vote and adding unnecessary barriers to this process that will have negative impacts on the communities we center.
With bills being introduced based on extremely rare instances, it’s a slippery slope between all of our voting rights being stripped away.
This is just another attempt to dismantle our democracy. Help us raise awareness and fight back against this needless legislation by rushing $25 or more today → ([link removed]

The New Pennsylvania Project (NPP) is a voting rights organization with a year-round primary focus on voter registration, civic education, and mobilization. NPP centers historically disenfranchised and often neglected Black, Indigenous and other people of color, immigrant communities and the youth in our work. Through civic engagement, we ensure all eligible voters feel compelled to exercise their freedom to vote in the Commonwealth.
