John,

We are officially one month into a second Trump Administration and while the White House is rapidly pushing their fascist agenda, we at AYD are continuing to build our resistance and overcome the challenges being thrown our way, but most importantly the only way to survive this regime is by standing together as a community to build a strong resistance against the tyranny that is currently in our country.

Speaking of community, we have a bunch of cool events to help you clear your mind  and relax before we start diving into campaign season head on. We will only  emerge victorious if we start standing together now and fight this battle together,  as it'll only make our resistance that much stronger and show that we won’t let our liberties and civil rights be taken away, and come November we are not saying "we should have done more." We will continue to fight hard and won’t give up, ensuring that we are actively protecting our democracy. As History as shown us time and time again, "its not the tough times that last, but the tough people that do!"

Community Announcements

Arlington Democrats March Meeting

Join the Arlington Democrats for there march meeting at Lubber Run Community Center on Wednesday, March 5 at 7 p.m. In addition to party business and opportunities to get involved, you'll have the chance to hear campaign announcements from a variety of candidates running in the upcoming Democratic primaries—from Lieutenant Governor, to Attorney General, to the House of Delegates.

Town Hall for Federal Workers & Contractors

Join Arlington Democrats, hosted by Arlington Public Library, for a Federal Employees & Contractors Town Hall to discuss the growing threats to federal worker and contractor rights under the Trump administration.

Between mass layoffs, agency takeovers, and resignation buyouts, it’s critical to understand how to protect yourself and prepare for further uncertainty in this federal employment landscape. Our panel of experts will help answer your questions regarding your rights, remedies and recourse. And the Arlington Library will have available resources to help you find new employment should the need arise.

If you are a government contractor, members of our panel know how to guide contractors in securing their rightful payments and awards from the government and how to navigate through the meaning and impact of Executive actions and find a receptive ear within the Trump administration and on Capitol Hill.

Whether you’re a federal employee, contractor, or concerned about the future of public service, this is your chance to ask questions and connect with others facing the same challenges.

Our panel features representatives from labor, legal, and policy perspectives as they pertain to federal workers and contractors:

  • Alissa Tafti – President, AFGE Local 2211, and Chair, Federal Labor Caucus, NoVA Labor Federation
  • Patrice Howard – Attorney specializing in government contracting, former DOJ Contracting Officer managing grants for non-profits and law enforcement agencies
  • James Kearney – Partner at Womble Bond Dickinson. He specializes in representing both prime contractors and subcontractors in their dealings with federal, state and local government agencies.
  • Tamara Slater - Partner at Alan Lescht & Associates where she represents federal employees in state and federal court and in administrative investigations including before the EEOC

Don’t wait to get informed and stay engaged on this issue. RSVP today!
