Elon Musk and Donald Trump are handing over regulatory power to fossil fuel executives while silencing scientists and environmental justice advocates. This is a blatant abuse of power.

Their goal is to execute a full-scale coup at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as more than 1,000 employees – scientists, regulators, and environmental justice advocates -- have been told to stay home and prepare to be “fired immediately.”

They are targeting the most vulnerable communities first, shutting down programs that serve poor and minority neighborhoods, dismantling pollution monitoring efforts, and ensuring that corporate polluters can operate without accountability. Without the EPA’s oversight, toxic emissions will go unchecked, and the hardest-hit communities will be left to fend for themselves.

Congress must act now to stop Musk and Trump from gutting the EPA. The future of our environment, public health, and democracy depends on it.

Musk has already illegally ordered the shutdown of USAID and purged employees at the Energy Department’s Office of Energy Equity, the very office that ensures poor and minority communities have access to affordable, clean energy.

Now, he and Trump are dismantling the EPA, targeting the programs that monitor pollution and hold Big Oil accountable. Their goal? A complete corporate takeover of environmental policy, designed to enrich fossil fuel billionaires at the expense of public health and the planet.

This is just the beginning. The Department of Veterans Affairs, the Social Security Administration, and other critical agencies are next on their list.

If we don’t fight back now, the entire federal government will be reshaped to serve the interests of the ultra-rich while leaving working families, marginalized communities, and future generations to suffer the consequences.
