Dear John,

Renowned author, researcher, and advocate Leah Rothstein will be a plenary speaker at our upcoming Policy. Practice. Power. Conference taking place May 27-29, 2025, in Washington, D.C. Rothstein’s session, titled Just Action & The Color of Law, will explore themes from her recent book, Just Action, which challenges advocates and practitioners to move beyond slogans to meaningfully address inequities that persist in communities throughout the country.

Just Action is an important follow-up to her father’s The Color of Law, which recounts the government’s active role in perpetuating housing segregation and exclusionary practices throughout the country, the effects of which are still felt today. During her conference session, Ms. Rothstein will shine a light on how to ensure our actions are impactful and not just self-congratulatory or divisive.

We hope you’ll join us for what is sure to be an inspiring call to action. Where we live matters.

We bring together an extensive network of partners and member practitioners from local communities who have a deep understanding of best practices in community land trusts, shared equity housing, local housing policies such as inclusionary zoning, and more.

At Grounded Solutions Network, we know what policies and strategies work to build and preserve housing opportunities, and we help communities use them.
