Terri Sewell is the proud product of Alabama’s rural Black Belt and has spent her life fighting for Alabama communities. From her time as one of the only black public finance lawyers in Alabama, when she delivered financing for new campus facilities at Alabama State University, Tuskegee University, and Stillman College, to her work as Congresswoman for Alabama’s 7th District, Terri Sewell has delivered results every step of the way. TERRI SEWELL FOR CONGRESS
Folks,

Across the nation, Republican officials are pushing hundreds of dangerous voter suppression measures—including the “SAVE Act”—to make it harder for Americans to vote. From women who have recently changed their names to those using military or tribal IDs, the SAVE Act would disenfranchise millions of eligible voters.

As we prepare to observe the 60th anniversary of Bloody Sunday and the historic civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, it is clear; the fight for voting rights is just as urgent today as it was decades ago.

That’s why today, I led every House Democrat in introducing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

Will you please sign our petition to help me fight to protect fair elections and the fundamental right to vote for every Alabamian?

As a daughter of Selma and the representative of Alabama’s Civil Rights District, the fight for voting rights is very personal to me. It was in Selma where John Lewis and hundreds of Foot Soldiers marched, bled, and even died to secure the equal right of all Americans to vote.

The John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act would restore federal oversight and establish a modern-day framework to prevent states with a history of voter discrimination from restricting access to the ballot box—ensuring that every American citizen can exercise their right to vote.

It would honor the legacy of John Lewis and all those who put their lives on the line for our fundamental freedoms.

As the author and lead sponsor of the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, I am committed to restoring the protections that have long safeguarded our democracy. Please add your name below if you support the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act:
