Home And Happy To Help

Greetings,

Now that we are back in the district, one of our main priorities is constituent work. My team and I are here to assist you with any challenges you may face involving state agencies or government issues. We are committed to serving as your direct link to state resources and support, ensuring that every resident feels heard and valued.

When we are not in session, we dedicate our time to engaging with the community, addressing concerns, and working on new legislation. Being home gives us the opportunity to connect with constituents in person—whether we’re attending community events, visiting local businesses, or meeting with organizations. These interactions provide invaluable insights that help shape future policies and ensure we are addressing the district’s evolving needs.

Another important job is informing the public about bills that passed, whether good or bad. This week, I want to address some of the bad bills that made it through and will now make their way to the Governor’s desk. In the 2025 legislative session, we faced several pieces of controversial legislation that sparked significant debate.

In public safety, bills imposing stricter gun control measures, such as Senate Bill 1181 (the “Assault Weapons Ban”), sparked outrage. This bill, which I strongly opposed, targets law- abiding citizens rather than addressing the root causes of violent crime. Instead of supporting programs like Operation Ceasefire, which effectively get guns out of criminals' hands, this legislation punishes responsible gun owners without enhancing public safety.

Healthcare proposals also drew intense scrutiny. Senate Bill 1105, which addressed contraception access, contained vague language that could lead to confusion and unintended legal consequences. Clear, precise legislation is essential, especially on complex and sensitive issues. Ambiguity in lawmaking not only weakens the bill’s intent but also creates uncertainty for both the public and the courts.

Another contentious bill, House Bill 2485, aimed to establish a retail marijuana market. I believe this bill did not have a sufficient regulatory framework to ensure public safety. Treating marijuana like alcohol and cigarettes without robust oversight leaves room for misuse and unintended consequences. Without thoughtful, well-structured policies, this legislation could pose serious risks to public safety and community welfare.

In light of these legislative challenges, Virginia Republicans are actively pushing back, advocating for policies that uphold individual liberties, promote economic growth, and foster responsible governance. We are committed to challenging harmful legislation and proposing balanced solutions that protect citizens' rights while supporting community welfare.

As we move forward, my team and I remain steadfast in our dedication to serving the district. We encourage you to stay engaged, share your thoughts, and join us in building a safer, more prosperous Virginia.

My staff and I are always here to assist you with any issues or concerns. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can be of service. You can reach us at 434.374.5129 or by email at [email protected]
