John,
Last night, in his address before a joint session of Congress, President Trump laid out a vision that attacks our immigrant neighbors, tears apart a federal government that is meant to serve the people, and promises even more tax cuts for the wealthy on the backs of low-income and all working families.
Trump and his allies claim that they’ll pay for their tax cuts by eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse. They call Social Security a Ponzi scheme in an attempt to undermine faith in our earned benefits while gutting the staff that help millions access their earned benefits.1 And they claim their tax cuts will benefit every household in America when the reality is that most people will receive less than a dollar a day while seeing increased out-of-pocket expenses on everything from health care to housing to food. In fact, an analysis that adds tariffs to the rest of the tax proposals shows that most people will actually lose ground; only the wealthy get tax breaks.2
Don’t let Donald Trump’s spin distract us from his mission of creating a government of, by, and for the billionaires. Fight back and demand Congress defend critical services for millions of households by rejecting cuts to Medicaid and SNAP nutrition benefits. Click here to take action today >>

Last week, the House passed a budget resolution that seeks to cut $880 billion from Medicaid and $230 billion from SNAP to pay for $1.1 trillion in tax breaks for the richest 1%.3,4
While Trump’s arm twisting was enough to get congressional Republicans to fall in line and pass this first step in the budget process, it’s now up to congressional committees to write the actual bills, with the specifics of how they will manage to cut over a trillion dollars from SNAP and Medicaid.
We saw how our grassroots pressure caused numerous moderate Republicans in swing districts to voice their concerns over likely cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, and we need to keep the pressure on now.
We’ve already sent over 286,000 messages to Congress in the last two weeks demanding they defend these vital programs. Can we reach 300,000 today? Click here to send a message to your senators and representative now.
If the right wing is successful with their budget cuts, tens of millions of people will be kicked off their health care while millions more will find themselves struggling to put food on the table with deep cuts to nutrition assistance. Congress needs to know that we’re paying attention and that we won’t stand for these attacks on vulnerable communities.
Thank you for taking action today,
