We have been talking about Connecticut’s sky high electricity rates (3rd Highest in the Country). We broke this last summer on the campaign trail and it is not going away. The Week - YOU CAN DO SOMETHING - CT Republican Senators have proposed Senate Bill 647 with a 6-point plan to save you money. Cheap electricity should not be a partisan issue, unless you live in the Constitutional State. Paying your neighbors electricity bills through subsidies is unconstitutional - that is a function of government. Senators Harding and Fazio have been the most vocal at this and they need your support. The 6 Point Plan to Put Electric Consumers first - NOT THE UTILITIES Make your voices heard.
If you would like a sample statement to submit: Here is a canned testimony if you need some talking points: Dear Connecticut State Senators, We should not be subsidizing our neighbors or businesses to make energy upgrades. That is the role of a utility company to pay for those upgrades so they do not have to provide as much electricity. if my neighbors wants solar, they can pay for it, NOT ME. This public benefits charge does not benefit the public. We need nuclear energy and this needs to be classified as renewable - it is clean and reliable energy unlike the windmills and solar that are not. We also need to increase the supply of natural gas while we move to more nuclear. Make Connecticut an affordable state again. I strongly SUPPORT this bill. We need affordable energy.
