Last week, I got to spend a few days in New York City to speak at the American Society of Journalists and Authors ([link removed]) annual conference. And happily, I had so many newsletters to dig into on my trips and waits at airports.
Two weeks ago, I wrote about a few of my favorites ([link removed]) and asked Local Edition readers to share theirs. And boy, did you. Here are some of your favorite newsletters. Where possible, I included a description.
About our industry:
* Understated ([link removed]) , by Sarah Alvarez: “This is just a simple blog cataloging research I'm doing, conversations I'm having, and ideas that feel exciting and relevant to finding some different news formats and frameworks that might work better than what we use and rely on now.”
* Working Systems ([link removed]) by Damon Kiesow
* The Other Wave ([link removed]) by Anita Li: “An innovation newsletter about challenging the status quo in Canadian journalism.”
* MLK50: ([link removed]) "Justice through journalism."
* The International Society for Weekly Newspaper Editors ([link removed])
* Muck Rack Daily ([link removed]) : “A digest of journalism, written by journalists, delivered to your inbox daily.”
* The Journalist’s Resource ([link removed])
* Journalist’s Toolbox ([link removed]) : “Journalist's Toolbox (TM) AI shares tools, plug-ins, browser extensions and other artificial intelligence resources that are helpful to professional journalists, students, educators, marketers and others.”
* Collaborative journalism ([link removed]) : “A hub of resources and ideas related to collaborative journalism.”
* Mc Nelly Torres: ([link removed]) “I write about topics the media industry often ignores — racism, sexism, discrimination and inequities in newsrooms — using my experience as a Latina to help you navigate this industry.”
* Media Nation ([link removed]) by Dan Kennedy: “The press, politics, technology, culture and other passion.”

About our world:
* Connective Tissue ([link removed]) : “A newsletter on the connections, communities and commitments that bind us together.”
* Time Spent by Jihii Jolly ([link removed]) : “Examining our time spent outside of work.”
* Flow State ([link removed]) : “Every weekday, two hours of music that's perfect for working (no vocals).”
* Frank Bruni’s weekly newsletter ([link removed]) from The New York Times: “Reflections on the mess (and magic) of politics and life.”
* Jamelle Bouie’s newsletter ([link removed]) for The New York Times: “Historical context for present-day events.”
* Abortion, Every Day ([link removed]) by Jessica Valenti: “All things abortion. Feminist commentary and community.”
* Important, Not Important ([link removed]) : “Science for people who give a sh*t.”
* Wonder Tools ([link removed]) by Jeremy Caplan: “Wonder Tools helps you discover the most useful sites and apps.”
* Popular Information by Judd Legum ([link removed]) : “Independent accountability journalism.”
* Musk Watch by Judd Legum ([link removed]) : “Accountability journalism focused on one of the most powerful humans in history.”
* Democracy Docket ([link removed])
* The Gist ([link removed]) : “Leveling the playing field.”

Here’s one more I should have included two weeks ago by my friend Stephanie Hayes at the Tampa Bay Times. Stephinitley ([link removed]) offers “sidelong glances at Florida! Ill-fated life advice! Occasional animal photos!” and it’s a delight.
That’s it for me. If you need something else to keep you busy right now, I'm so excited about this project by my colleague Tom Jones in honor of Poynter's 50th anniversary. I'm going to write about it more in a few weeks, but check out The Poynter 50 ([link removed]) , a look back at significant media moments and people in the last 50 years. Up first: "CNN’s live coverage of Operation Desert Storm launched a new era in television news." ([link removed]) (Also, check out Tom leaving no crumbs ([link removed]) and being a very good sport on our Instagram.)
