On February 14, 2025, Nikkie Nguyen and Ian Henderson exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Costa Mesa, CA, surrounded by family, friends, and faith.
Their love story began at Rep. Michelle Steel's Primary Election Night party on March 3, 2020, at China Palace (now The Whaler), where a simple introduction by Joshua Recalde-Martinez led to an all-night conversation about nothing and everything. Their first date, on March 13, 2020, at Sushi Roku, coincided with the first day of the COVID lockdown, marking the beginning of a journey filled with resilience, laughter, and a shared appreciation for antibacterial wipes.
Fast forward to Memorial Day weekend, Ian proposed at The Whaler, at the very table where they first met, with a custom menu that read: Will you marry me?
Their wedding day was a reflection of their love, an al fresco-inspired celebration with European-style florals, a guest-focused atmosphere, and just a pinch of Valentine's Day charm. The reception at Venue by 3 Petals in Huntington Beach featured an unforgettable performance by Thien An Performing Arts, whose lion dancers and drummers left guests raving.
With Fr. Pascal Nguyen, O. PRAEM., officiating their vows, Nikkie and Ian begin their next chapter, looking forward to a future filled with love, laughter, and community. "The rest is still unwritten, but we're excited to build our family while staying close to our friends, loved ones, and parish in Orange County."
Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Henderson!
