Updates From Judge O'Hare

I hope 2025 is off to as productive a start for you as it has been for our office. My priorities remain the same in 2025 as in my two previous years as County Judgegood governance, prudent spending, and reducing waste.

Here are a few highlights from the last two months:

Swearing-In Tarrant County Officials

We kicked off the New Year with multiple swearing-in ceremonies across the County for newly elected and returning Tarrant County officeholders. My office hosted a swearing-in event to celebrate these dedicated servants. They have rolled up their sleeves and gotten to work.

Statement on Trump's Border Policy

In January, my office released the following statement on President Trump's Border Enforcement Efforts:

"Judge O'Hare fully supports President Trump and his agenda, and he trusts Border Czar Tom Homan to successfully address the massive crisis we have at our border. Tarrant County is committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of its residents. Judge O'Hare welcomes the President's efforts and commitment to crack down on the failed immigration policies costing taxpayers billions annually. Tarrant County will fully and unequivocally support law and order and the enforcement of American immigration laws."

175th Anniversary of Tarrant County

At the first 2025 Commissioners Court Meeting we recognized the 175th anniversary of the establishment of Tarrant County. Tarrant was established on December 20, 1849, and named after General Edward H. Tarrant. Since then, Tarrant County has become the third largest county in Texas. I am proud to live in Tarrant County and serve all of our residents. Tarrant County's rich Western heritage and can-do Texas spirit have been key in its transformation from a small agricultural region to a major hub for transportation, aviation, agriculture, national defense, education, and tourism.

Transparent Finances

The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts awards 6 separate transparency stars to local governments for "going above and beyond in their transparency efforts." The six stars are for Contracts and Procurements, Debt Obligations, Economic Development, Traditional Finances, Open Government and Compliance, and Public Pensions. Tarrant County is the first county in Texas to earn all 6 Transparency Stars from the Comptroller! The taxpayers deserve access to the information regarding how the County uses taxpayer funds. Tarrant County is an example to other counties for how to handle government finances transparently.

Law Enforcement Recognition

On February 19, 2025, the Commissioners Court passed a proclamation honoring Tarrant County Sheriff's Department members who were involved in a shooting while serving a warrant. The Sergeants and Deputies displayed amazing bravery in a dangerous situation. Their clear headedness under pressure is another example of the quality of training our County law enforcement members receive.

Reflection on Taxpayer Victories

The Dallas Express recently published an article, Tarrant County Judge Tim O'Hare Says He is Already Running His Own DOGE, outlining many of our key taxpayer victories over the last two years. From reforming the Tarrant County employee travel policy to cutting the operating budget by nearly $60 million, there are numerous instances where my office protected taxpayers.

I am excited to continue serving Tarrant County residents in 2025. You can expect to receive more regular updates from me this year.

With gratitude,

X
