Email from New York City Council- District 18 Go Behind-the-Scenes of my Foodie Adventure!     Dear Neighbor, The Bronx Tourism Council’s annual Savor the Bronx Restaurant Week was a resounding success, bringing food lovers from all over the city to experience the borough’s rich and diverse culinary scene. With over 70 participating restaurants offering special deals, it was truly a feast for the senses! I embarked on my own foodie adventure, reviewing some of District 18’s standout dining gems — Barrio BX, Lava Rock Kitchen, and Mi Tierra — and each bite was more delicious than the last! 📸Want a behind-the-scenes look at all the incredible dishes I tried? Check out my Savor the Bronx food journal and photo album below to experience the journey all over again! With only six short days, I couldn’t visit every restaurant — but the good news is, you do not have to wait until next year to support our local favorites! Be sure to check out Al Aqsa Kitchen, The Way Cafe, Khalil Biryani House, Fogon Restaurant, Caridad Williamsbridge, and Neerob Restaurant & Halal Chinese. Even Chang Li Supermarket joined in on the fun, offering shoppers special discounts on specialty items and fresh produce. The Bronx’s culinary scene is always worth savoring, so keep exploring, indulging, and celebrating these incredible local establishments! In Community, Hon. Amanda Farías Majority Leader Council Member, District 18 BARRIO BX I kicked off my Savor the Bronx journey at Barrio BX, where co-owners Tony Martinez and Ruben Rodriguez seamlessly blend authentic Puerto Rican cuisine with vibrant cultural programming. From their delicious prix fixe menu to their warm hospitality, Barrio BX is more than just a restaurant — it’s a community hub that celebrates flavor and heritage. LAVA ROCK KITCHEN Next, I made my way to Lava Rock Kitchen, where I enjoyed authentic Italian cuisine with a Halal twist. After first working together at a Tribeca-based Italian restaurant, owner Ruhel, chef Sergio, and hostess Sara reunited to create this unique spot, blending their love for Mediterranean cuisine with inspiration from the neighborhood's Muslim and Bangladeshi communities. I had a scrumptious bowl of Capellini Primavera, and let me tell you — pasta lovers, this one is a must-try! MI TIERRA I wrapped up my foodie adventure at Mi Tierra in Westchester Square, a Bronx-based, Guyanese family-owned gem serving up delectable Latin fusion cuisine. From crispy empanadas to succulent coconut shrimp and mouthwatering tostones sliders, every dish transports you to the tropics. Owner Bobby Adhin has cultivated a fresh, festive atmosphere — perfect for a night out with friends or loved ones. THAT'S A WRAP! And just like that, Savor the Bronx came to a close. Exploring the rich flavors and diverse cultures right here in District 18 was an incredible experience. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Bronx Tourism Council for providing this incredible platform to showcase our homegrown culinary talents.
