Call to Action: Protect Democracy

Below are updated details to previously published events as well as new opportunities, like 5 Calls, to get involved.

Tuesday, March 4: March 4 Democracy

The Sacramento chapter of 50501 is organizing a march Tuesday, March 4th. The event will start at Crocker Park, 211 O Street at noon with guest speakers and instructions. From there, the march will commence at 1PM lapping the Capitol Mall until 2:30PM.


At 2:45 we will gather on the lawns of the Capitol to welcome the California Federation of Teachers and their Day of Action to Protect Public Education. The CFT program begins at 3PM and we will be there to observe and support them.

Tuesday, March 4: Light For Democracy

On Tuesday, March 4th, the League of Women Voters are jointly hosting a gathering in our community, in solidarity with people across the country, to bring people together in reflection, action, and solidarity during the President’s address to Congress on March 4th.

This event will offer a peaceful and unified space to come together for the health of our democracy, the future of our nation, and the well-being of all its people. Please join us!

Friday, March 7: Stand Up for Science

Stand Up For Science 2025 is a national day of action calling for robust, interference-free scientific research and policies that ensure science serves everyone. In Washington, DC, state capitals, and cities around the country, people will gather to advocate for continued government support for science, defend against censorship, and push back on attacks against diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in research and education.


Join us March 7th on the West Side of the State Capitol in Sacramento to Stand Up for Science! We now can confirm the California State Senate Majority Leader Cecilia Aguiar-Curry and Sacramento Mayor Pro Tem Eric Guerra are CONFIRMED SPEAKERS at our Sacramento. Davis Mayor Bapu Vaitla will also be speaking, in addition to several local scientists and engineers!

Saturday, March 8: International Women's Day (#WhereIsKevin)

Join us in celebrating International Women's Day and help us remind CD3 Congress member Kevin Kiley that we aren't going anywhere, and we aren't going back.


Pick an issue with a personal connection, make your best sign, and use the hashtag #WhereIsKevin. Join us in Roseville on Saturday, March 8th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Location information will be sent when you sign up for this event. YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL WITH A MAP WITH THE EXACT LOCATION A FEW DAYS BEFORE THE RALLY.

Other News

For the 25th year, the Placerville Empty Bowls Dinner will offer a chance to gather, enjoy a delicious bowl of soup in a handmade bowl, and raise funds to fight hunger in our local community and beyond. The event is organized by youth participants in Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference and will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 4 to 7 pm in the Forni Building at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds.

$25 at the door, if available

$15 students ages 5-18

Families can enjoy delicious soup served in a keepsake handmade bowl, all while soaking in the lively atmosphere of live music and vendor booths. Wine, beer, and desserts will be available for purchase. The event is entirely youth-driven, organized by a passionate committee learning invaluable skills like leadership, time management, marketing, event planning, in addition to learning about hunger in their own community.

We are still selling tickets for our annual fundraiser on Sunday, April 27th. The Kennedy Roosevelt Dinner is our main fundraiser for the year. Proceeds go towards supporting local Democratic Candidates.
