What does that mean for working parents? Imagine a family of four with a toddler and school-age child—maybe one parent works retail while the other is a janitor—that earns $65,000 annually. They receive just $660 under current tax policy. Under a recent proposal by the governor, they’d get $1,500. But under the Working Families Tax Credit, they’d receive at least $3,200.
My proposal would slash deep child poverty by 22% and increase the net income of more than a third of New York residents. It’s the best way to tackle the affordability crisis, put more money in parents' pockets and grow the middle class. That’s why I'm fighting to include it in this year’s state budget.

If we want New York to be a place where working families have a real shot at making it, we have to give them the support to take that shot. My Working Families Tax Credit is the best way to do that.
