If you’re as online as we are, you might have seen the popular “Another $20 trillion to Israel” meme that has made its way around social media over the past year and a half. It’s an utterly absurdist image, but one that rings true about America’s disastrous foreign policy priorities.

KnowYourMeme.com, a meme encyclopedia of sorts, states the following: "Another 20 Trillion to Israel refers to a catchphrase and meme typically used alongside a viral fan art drawing of Patrick Star playing basketball paired with the caption "Another 20 trillion to Israel." In 2023, the fan art started to be paired with the "Another 20 trillion to Israel" phrase and used as an ironic reaction meme on X and Reddit towards any content related to the Hamas-Israel conflict, specifically referring to aid being sent to Israel."

In other words, it’s a lot of people’s way of saying, “Why on earth do we keep sending money to kill kids when millions of Americans don’t even have healthcare or housing?” — and that’s obviously a fair point.

Now, there’s even more truth to the meme because Marco Rubio, Donald Trump’s Secretary of State, just signed off on sending another $3 trillion to Israel — and he’s doing so without Congress’s approval.

And we hate to share this, John, but only a select few members of Congress have condemned this move by the Trump administration. Zero members of Congress, including progressives, have any real plans to do anything about it.

It’s totally understandable that some things will slip under the radar as Trump unleashes his awful agenda but sending weapons to a murderous government and its completely unaccountable military needs to be at the top of the list of things to push back on!

The leaders we elected to speak truth to power and defend human rights are falling short and it’s time for them to either get their sh!t together or pack up their offices.

Our job is to make that happen and we’re working to do that through targeted pressure campaigns on “progressive” Democrats in deep blue districts who support Netanyahu’s war on Gaza.

AIPAC and other pro-Israel groups are spending MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to stop the candidates we support. They have the cash but we have the people. Can you donate $10 or whatever you can spare to help us kick fake progressives out of Congress?

The memes can be funny but the situation in Gaza is increasingly serious and dire for millions of people there. We need our government to stand against Netanyahu and the atrocities he’s committing.
