George Floyd was killed in broad daylight by Minneapolis Police.

John,

George Floyd was killed in broad daylight by Minneapolis Police. Cities across America are full of protests, unrest, and rioting. We join them in demanding justice for the family of George Floyd, and charges against the officers who killed him.

George Floyd was choked and killed by Minneapolis police in broad daylight on Monday, May 25th. Officer Derek Chauvin held his knee on Floyd's neck for nine full minutes, while Floyd pleaded with him to stop, saying "I can't breathe" numerous times.

In their police report, officers wrote that he died of a "medical incident" after resisting arrest. A viral video released on Facebook quickly clarified that the "medical incident" was actually a brutal killing in front of a street full of citizens who were pleading with police officers to stop.

Not all the officers responsible have still not been charged with a crime.

Join us in demanding charges and prosecution to the full extent of the criminal law of officers Derek Chauvin and Tou Thao.

We also wanted to share with you a moving testimonial from the United Methodist Church's General Commission on Race & Religion.

We join in solidarity with all races, religions, and creeds and kinds in a united call for our political leaders to address systemic racism and discrimination.

George Floyd is the name we're chanting today. Yesterday it was Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery. Before that, it was Botham Jean, Eric Garner, Philando Castile, Walter Scott, Tamir Rice, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland, Alton Sterling, Freddie Gray, Laquan McDonald, and Trayvon Martin. We will keep saying their names. We will keep honoring their lives

We must create change from the top down, and the bottom up. In 2020, we can take a step toward ending systemic oppression with our ballots. We must support individuals committed to pushing our nation closer to the beloved community so many of us continue to dream of. This year we can move one step closer to a vision of America we all hold in our hearts. A better world is possible, and we pledge to make it real.
