NASN Leadership and Directors from across the country met in the nation's capital to advocate for healthier, safer learning environments. Advocating for ourselves and sharing our knowledge, evidence, and data about our practice is powerful. Our power as school nurses lies in the trust the public puts in us and the knowledge the public has about our expertise. We are the champions of equitable healthcare and education for our students, and we must continue to use our advocacy, inclusivity, and equity to dismantle the educational and healthcare barriers for our students. NASN's nationwide survey revealed that school nurses are widely seen as playing a vital role in schools and student well-being. We address critical healthcare needs, ensuring students can thrive in the classroom and beyond. We are thrilled to see nurses at the University of Virginia's School of Nursing amplifying the role of school nurses in supporting young people struggling with mental health issues. Eating Disorders Awareness Week February 24 – March 2, 2025 Eating Disorders Awareness Week is an annual campaign that educates the public about the realities of eating disorders while providing hope and visibility to those affected and their loved ones. This year’s theme, “The Time is Now,” seeks to shift perceptions by emphasizing the importance of sharing knowledge and resources, promoting early detection and treatment, and supporting ongoing research. International HPV Awareness Day is Next Week! School nurses are trusted members of the school community and can play a crucial role in reducing HPV-related cancers. International HPV Awareness Day, observed annually on March 4, aims to empower individuals and society with the knowledge needed to take effective action to reduce the harm caused by HPV.
