ICYMI: Watch the videos from PRI's 2025 "California Ideas in Action" Policy Conference ([link removed])

Dear Friend:

PRI held its annual “California Ideas in Action” conference this week at the Sutter Club in Sacramento. Thanks to the support and generosity of supporters like you, it was perhaps our best conference yet.

If you couldn’t be there in person, videos of the conversations and panel discussion are now online to watch at home at your leisure. Click here to watch ([link removed]) .

Attendees at the half-day conference heard from real life changemakers, great thinkers, and policy experts exploring how market-based solutions provide the path forward to reform and renewal in California.

PRI’s Dr. Wayne Winegarden gave a preview of an upcoming PRI study quantifying how much the transition to an all-green energy future in California will cost. You'll be shocked to hear how much the bill for our state's government-mandated green transition will be for you and your family.

The conference morning session featured a series of big conversations on key issues facing Californians today:
* Dr. Winegarden interviewed PRI President, CEO, and Thomas W. Smith Fellow in Health Care Policy Sally C. Pipes on the themes of her new book The World's Medicine Chest, which explores how the push by Democrats and some Republicans to enact government price controls on prescription drugs will hurt patients and innovation.
* PRI senior fellow in urban studies Steve Smith interviewed Sacramento County Sheriff Jim Cooper about what's next in the push for stronger criminal justice policy reforms after the sweeping victory of Prop. 36 in November to combat retail theft.
* Lance Izumi, senior director of PRI's Center for Education, interviewed Assembly Member Blanca Rubio, who is featured in his book The Great Classroom Collapse, and who is leading a bipartisan movement in California to change how we teach our kids reading and math.

One of the nation's top pollsters and political analysts Scott Rasmussen gave the luncheon keynote speech, sharing with the audience lessons learned from the 2024 elections, and whether growing voter frustration on crime, quality of life and the wildfire response can lay the groundwork for more free market victories at the ballot box in California.

The event concluded with a lively conversation moderated by Free Cities Center director Steven Greenhut featuring some of the state's top land use and housing policy experts exploring the question - is there a war on suburbia in California?

Your continued support of PRI makes it possible for us to bring free-market ideas where they are needed most – right to the doorstep of our State Capitol.

After watching the videos, we hope you are inspired to join with us in fighting for reforms to restore California as the magical place we all once knew.
